Our History

OUR HISTORY

Our heritage goes a long way back

Lucite International was created from the acrylic businesses of ICI and DuPont. ICI Acrylics was formed in the 1930s, when it invented the first commercial process for MMA. It went on to acquire DuPont’s acrylics business, and in 1999, Charterhouse Development Capital became involved in rebranding the Company Lucite International. In 2009 Mitsubishi Chemical Co Ltd became the new owners of the Company.

Today, more than ever, our commitment to invest in innovation comes back to our fundamental believe that acrylic has a major contribution to make in the developing world

BREXIT STATEMENT

As the date of UK’s withdrawal from the EU is rapidly approaching there still remains real uncertainty as to the definitive outcome and shape of the Brexit deal (until the 31st of December 2020)

We, as Lucite International Alpha B.V. and in particular our Brexit team have been preparing ourselves for the worst-case scenario of a “No-deal Brexit” with a no free trade agreement between the EU and UK from the 31st of December 2020.

We have been focussing on key areas including but not limited to changes in tariffs, regulatory frameworks, customs borders, and logistics & supply chain for raw materials and finished product. This approach enables us to anticipate and adapt ourselves to any potential Brexit-deal.

Despite the political uncertainty, we can promise that we are confident we have prepared  thoroughly so that the effects of a “No-Deal Brexit” scenario should be minimal, and we intent to maintain our high level of customer service and support that you have come to expect from Lucite International Alpha B.V.
